Response to Julia Wilson’s Review of The Adventures of Gorg

Reading Julia Wilson’s thoughtful review truly touched me. She said:

"The Adventures of Gorg by Julia Sawyer is a powerful little book for the under tens to help them cope in the modern world.
We learn that we all have the same primitive thinking – no one likes me; there’s danger; etc – and we have the same body responses – get ready to run etc. Our negative thoughts are not unique to us.
Julia Sawyer shares coping mechanisms – think positive thoughts; share a cuddle blanket; etc. We learn that we are not alone and we are not unique.
Julia Sawyer is a clinical psychologist who has written The Adventures Of Gorg to help children to identify and to deal with their thoughts.
This is a book to be read with our children so that we can have discussions and answer their questions as we read.
This is an excellent book to read with an anxious child, and also good for a more confident child as you never know when life will throw a curveball at you.
The Adventures Of Gorg is full of sound advice for all."

As a clinical psychologist and author, it was important for me to create a book that not only entertains but also supports children in understanding their emotions. Hearing that Julia found it useful for anxious children, and even for more confident ones, means my message is reaching the hearts it was meant for.

I wanted to show young readers that their feelings are normal, shared, and manageable with simple, comforting strategies — and that they are never truly alone in what they face. I’m grateful this book has sparked conversations between parents and children, offering a tool for connection and reassurance.

Thank you so much, Julia, for your generous and insightful review. It encourages me to keep writing stories that matter.
